Senate Bill 54 (SB54) was signed into law during the 2014 legislative session. It was Count My Vote’s bill, touted as a compromise. The law not only circumvents the caucus-convention process (chosen by three Utah political parties) but also violates fundamental constitutional rights by letting government dictate how a party chooses its candidates. It establishes a money-for-ballot system and dissolves the local vetting process for selecting candidates. We thank current leaders and those running for the state legislature for signing the Keep Our Caucus Pledge to Repeal SB54.
